Dendrology: Woody Plant Identification

Learn to identify the native and naturalized trees, shrubs, and woody vines of the Northeast by their vegetative characteristics using their scientific and common names. You'll also hone your ability to use taxonomic keys and field guides. Bring a hand lens 10x or greater.

James Kaechele studied at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. He has been connecting people with plants for the past ten years. As an ISA-certified arborist, Kaechele leads the NY Tree Trust, a citywide program dedicated to fostering public-private partnerships in urban forestry.
