Ginny Yount is a botanical artist living in Westchester County,New York, where she teaches at the Bronxville Adult School,New York Botanical Garden, and a variety of workshops. After a fulfilling fifty year career in design, She embraced a new creative path by earning her Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the New York Botanical Garden.
Her fascination with all things botanical was nurtured by living in diverse landscapes-including Montana, Japan, Northern California's Wine Country, Pasadena, and New York. These environments inspired a deep respect for the natural world, especially native plants, which are now central to both her art and teaching. Ginny's published article in the Botanical Artist, titled Pulling up Roots", highlights these influences.
Ginny brings a distinctive approach to the classroom, using customized templates and grids, and thoughtfully curated tool "kits" that engage the eye and encourage hands-on learning. Her teaching fosters both confi dence and curiosity, as her students learn the basics of botanical art through drawing skills and plant science. She offers classes in Botanical Drawing for Beginners, Botanical Drawing in Colored Pencil, Journaling in Line and Wash, and Botanicals in Dry Brush Watercolor.
