Invasive Weed Identification & Management

Students will be introduced to the topics of invasion biology and weed management and their related terminology. Approximately 60 invasive or weed species common throughout the northeast region of the United States will be presented, with a focus on woody species. Management techniques and management plans will also be discussed. Field walks will be given on NYBG grounds.

Erica DeLuca is the gardener in the forest at New York Botanical Garden where she has worked since 2012. She has a B.S. in environmental biology and zoology from Michigan State University and a M.S. in Geographic Information Science from Lehman College. She previously worked with the New York Restoration Project.
