Jennifer Cappello-Ruggiero holds an AAS Degree in Horticulture Design and a BT Degree in Horticulture Technology. She did much of her early training as an intern at The Farmingdale State College Teaching Gardens where she assisted in the design and installation of the Sustainable Garden along with two bioswales. Jennifer gained horticultural and design experience working on private residences on Long Island and as an assistant to a landscape designer.
She later moved into a more public sector and became the Program Leader at East Meadow Farm; an educational and outreach facility of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County. Her work there included coordinating and training Master Gardener Volunteers in addition to providing oversight for the implementation and maintenance of public demonstration and community gardens. Jennifer also managed East Meadow Farm staff in the urban forestry, plant diagnostics and farm stand operations departments.

Mark Kokinchak earned his BS degree in Environmental Horticulture fromthe University of Connecticut in 1985. Mark first worked for a family nursery obtaining practical landscape experience before attending UCONN. Afterwards, he trained with Bartlett Tree and implemented the first IPM Monitor program in Danbury, CT. He then worked for 15 years for Lesco, Inc. where he used his knowledge to encourage sales helping customers to understand insect and disease controls. Currently Mark conducts a wide range of insect, disease and weed control at a large wholesale nursery in Newtown and Watertown, CT. He also teaches License classes for CT. 3a Ornamental and turf and 3d arborist.

Michael Ruggiero came to the garden in the summer of 1961 and is the former Senior Curator of Horticulture. During his time at the Garden he was responsible for the Orchid Collection, Propagation Greenhouses, Annual Displays, Plant Records, The Native Plant Garden and The Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden. Along with Lynden Miller, he oversaw the preparation and Planting of the Perennial Garden: The Herb Garden with Penelope Hobhouse, the Home Gardening Center, Children's Adventure Garden and the Planning, building and planting of the Paeonia, Daylily, and Liaison Daffodil Collections. After retiring, he was Horticulturist at Matterhorn Nursery where he Built the David Austin Rose Garden and for five years designed the Macy's Flower Show. He has written articles on many diverse gardening subjects for gardening publications and has appeared on The Victory Garden, Rebecca's Garden, and with Martha Stewart. He has authored Annuals with Style, Perennial Gardening, and Reliable Roses and Spotters Guide to Wildflowers of North America.

Michael Troy Brown is a graduate of University of Florida, with honors and a minor in Entomology. He has accumulated an extensive knowledge of tropical ornamentals, Mediterranean-climate plants, cactus, succulents, annuals and perennials over his twenty plus years of landscape and garden designs.
Brown had the opportunity to study and design gardens in Costa Rica and contribute a design to San Jose's Lankester Botanical Gardens. In 2006, he relocated from South Florida to Southern California to immerse himself in the plants of the Mediterranean climate at Descanso Gardens in Los Angeles- a beautiful 150-acre oak woodland nestled at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. He is now back in New York City where he offers garden tours as well as teaching classes at NYBG.

Kim Eierman earned a Certificate in Horticulture from the Botanical Garden and is the founder of EcoBeneficial!, a horticulture communications and consulting company promoting ecological landscapes and the use of native plants. Kim is a Certified Horticulturist through ASHS, an Accredited Organic Landcare Professional, a Master Gardener, a Master Naturalist and a member of the Native Plant Center Steering Committee.

Kimberly Tryba is associate partner at Martha Schwartz Partners, an international landscape architecture practice, where she oversees the management of the NYC office and directs business development and marketing efforts globally.A 2012 graduate of the NYBG Landscape Design certificate program, Kimberly received her Master of Landscape Architecture degree at Rutgers om 2018. She has served as a guest critic at NYBG and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is an active participant in a number of professional industry organizations, including as a member of the Board of Managers for the NYC Chapter of ASLA and as co-chair of the 2021 and 2022 annual meetings of NJASLA.
