Sunflowers and Composites on Vellum

Late summer brings an abundance of composites-flower types that are composed of multiple disc and ray flowers-reminiscent of sunny days. In this class, you'll use ellipses and spirals to lay out your drawings before transferring them to vellum. After painting a color roadmap, learn to perfect drybrush techniques and gradually build color. By applying many layers of drybrush watercolor, you'll build fresh, rich color and create believable form and well-observed detail. Through discussion, demonstration, and practice, gain tips for brush carriage and handling, along with how to repair some common glitches. By the end of this two-day class, you'll have a painting advanced enough to complete at home. Prerequisite: Watercolor I
