Lorna Leighton is a freelance illustrator/painter and graphic designer based in Yonkers. She has an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in NYC and has created illustrations for music, ballet, phone apps and toy companies. For Lorna, the Covid pandemic was a really productive time creatively. As freelance work dried up, she focused on drawing and painting. She found a community of artists online by joining workshops and artist groups on Zoom. Lorna began sketching around her neighborhood. The process of 'sketchbooking' allowed her to explore ideas, techniques, colors and themes which she then transfers to her larger paintings. Samples of her illustrations and sketchbooks can be found on her website at: www.flytedesign.netblog on Instagram: @lorna_leighton_arts |
