Biography: Dean Harris is an instructor of history at Central Oregon Community College (COCC). He and COCC sociologist Tom Barry co-host Pop Excavations, a weekly radio program on KPOV in Bend. Launched in 2011, Dean and Tom explore the scholarly study of popular music in the context of American culture. They have explored genres as diverse as rap and folk, artists such as U2 and Duke Ellington, and issues such as time and political revolution. Listen to Pop Excavations every Friday at 4:00 p.m. |
