Biography: In 2000, I had the pleasure of being introduced to the techniques of botanical painting at workshops given by Anne Marie Evans at her Rutland, UK studio. The plant kingdom has always fascinated me and I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to study them through my Biology and Botany degrees at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry in New York and then at Oregon State University. My interest in art combined with plants led me to study at and then receive a diploma in Botanical Illustration from the English Gardening School in 2005. Discovering and sharing insights into the detailed elements of every botanical specimen as they are uncovered in the process of painting continues to inspire me. Since moving back to the high desert of Central Oregon in 2006 I have continued to paint and now teach botanical illustration workshops at home, at the local Community College and at other locations. My work has been shown in several local exhibitions and has been published. |
