Biography: Carolyn Parker, an instructor for the Health and Human Performance Department at COCC since 2016, teaching the Yoga and Pilates programs for HHPA, is also a dedicated art teacher. She teaches art for adults and youth in the Community Education program at COCC. A graduate of the University of Washington and a lifelong student of the Arts, attending school abroad in New Zealand and now working toward a new notch on her belt, at COCC, by obtaining a Certificate in Digital Illustration. At COCC continuing education, she leads adults in multi-week courses including Figure Drawing and Coloring with Copic Markers, in addition to providing fun and learning for youth in art camps including, Manga Drawing and Stop Motion Animation. She is involved in the greater Central Oregon community and uses the beautiful backdrop of the High Desert for her professional and personal adventures in art and exercise. |

Nature journaling is collecting and organizing your observations, questions, connections and explanations on the page of a notebook using words, pictures and numbers. No need to be a naturalist. Sketching: Central Oregon Trees
Central Oregon is surrounded by natural beauty including a variety of trees common in the High Desert. From towering Ponderosa pines and aromatic Junipers to beautiful quaking Aspen, there's loads to observe and capture in our own backyard. This class focuses on shape, texture, foliage and creating depth through light and shadow, and is appropriate for the beginning sketcher, or those looking to add to their existing skillset.
