Instructor: Alex Gnefkow

Biography: Alex Gnefkow has been passionate about clay since 2017, when he took his first ceramic class at COCC. He began working in the ceramics department, and after a few years of learning the craft, he worked his way up to become the studio manager. Experimenting and developing his skills led Alex to start his own ceramics brand: Gnefknacks. Shortly after that, he began teaching at a local private studio where he fell in love with the community and connection aspect of teaching students from all backgrounds and experience levels. Since then, he has managed multiple ceramic studios around Bend, taught classes and workshops in a wide variety of techniques, and continues to connect with every person who has a passion for clay.

Pottery

Students will learn various techniques of working with clay through demonstrations and specific projects. Those with prior clay experience will review techniques and expand their skill level in both wheel throwing and hand building. Because there is a wide range of skill level and technique focus among students, emphasis will be placed on individual development and one-on-one attention, particularly for beginners. Materials are required for this course.
