Instructor: Jim DiCenzo

Jim DiCenzo
Biography: Jim DiCenzo is a native of New England and is now teaching at Bend International School. After growing up in Connecticut, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and Masters in Italian Linguistics from Middlebury College in Vermont and the Middlebury School in Italy. His favorite classes during his Masters studies were History of the Mafia and several courses related to Italian Cinema

Soon after earning his degrees, Jim led summertime language and cultural immersion experiences abroad for American students visiting Florence, Barcelona, Oxford, and Berkeley over the course of 8 summers, which then led to working with children and adults, instructing and directing programs at an environmental outdoor education facility on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

From 2017 - 2024, Jim spent eight years teaching high school Spanish and coaching varsity soccer and several other sports in the greater Boston area. As a high school teacher and coach, Jim won the teacher of the year in 2022-2023 and also the coach of the year for Boys Varsity Soccer in the fall season of 2023. It was here that Jim was first able to develop and teach his first class on Italian Cinema, which was a great success.

Jim moved to Bend in August 2024 and is a Middle School Spanish teacher. He also works with students with special needs, including working one-on-one with several individuals with autism.

In his free time, Jim enjoys traveling (especially to Italy and Puerto Rico), cooking, spending time outdoors, biking, hiking, paddle sports, and practicing survival skills. He has been obsessed with soccer from an early age and proudly supports Tottenham Hotspur. Audere est facere.
