Biography: Agent Thomas R. Alber, known as the US Crypto Cop, is a seasoned law enforcement officer and military veteran with over 35 years of experience. His distinguished career began in 1989 at a rural Kansas Sheriff's Office, and he later served as the chief of police in Missouri for 18 years. Agent Alber also served on the FBI-LEEDA Executive Board for six years, including a term as President. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #257. Currently, Agent Alber serves as a state police officer with the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, where he specializes in human trafficking, money laundering, and crypto-related crimes. He holds certifications as a TRM Certified Advanced Crypto Investigator (ACI) and Certified Crypto Compliance Specialist (CCS). Agent Alber is an active member of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) and the Midwest Crypto Task Force. In addition to his law enforcement career, Alber is a retired US Army Special Operations Officer. He began his military journey in the United States Marine Corps before transitioning to the US Army. Starting in communications and military police, he eventually moved into military intelligence and psychological operations. Agent Alber has trained law enforcement executives globally and served as chairman of the FBI-LEEDA Selection Committee for the Youth Leadership Program at Quantico, VA. His expertise in cryptocurrency crimes led him to develop the Cryptocurrency for the Patrol Officer course, designed to equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills to combat cryptocurrency-related fraud and scams. Agent Alber regularly publishes articles focused on combating crypto-related crimes, fraud, money laundering, and their roles in Chinese organized crime, human trafficking, and the narcotics trade. He is a vocal advocate for scam prevention, human trafficking awareness, and victim support. He actively promotes collaboration between law enforcement, banking institutions, and other stakeholders to address the growing threat of financial crimes, particularly in the realm of digital currencies. Today, Agent Alber continues his mission to educate and equip law enforcement while advocating for victims of scams and those unjustly detained by foreign governments.
