This online course is Part 1 of a self-paced, blended learning program consisting of ten interactive web-based modules. Part 2 of the training is a two-day, face-to-face seminar. Participants are required to register separately for Part 2 and certification testing. This academically oriented course is designed to meet the requirements of NFPA 1031 for the First Responder Inspector level. It provides participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills to effectively conduct fire inspections, evaluate permits, apply relevant codes, and complete the necessary documentation to support the inspection process. Students do not need to purchase a First Responder Inspector: Principles and Practice textbook, as a digital version is provided within the online modules.
January 1, 2026 to June 24, 2026, Self-paced Online Training
The First Responder Inspector Seminar Part 2 (Face-to-Face) is the practical portion of a blended learning course that builds on the foundational online training. Students use verbal and written communication to apply inspection skills, including interpreting relevant codes and standards, following inspection procedures, understanding legal responsibilities, and addressing safety and PPE requirements. This seminar ensures participants demonstrate hands-on competency by practicing real-world fire safety inspections, preparing documentation, and engaging in interactive scenarios. Note: All students must first complete the online portion (Part 1) of the training before attending.
