Ben began his CDCR career in 2002 as a Correctional Cadet at the Richard A. McGee Academy. After graduation, he was assigned to California Medical Facility (CMF), where he later served as an ISU Evidence Officer and Assistant Institutional Gang Investigator (AIGI), validating about 20 STG members. In 2012, he transferred to California State Prison, Sacramento, as an AIGI, validating roughly 25 additional STG members. Promoted to Sergeant in 2013, he later joined the Office of Correctional Safety (OCS), Special Services Unit (SSU), Gang Intelligence Operations (GIO). During five years with SSU GIO, he debriefed high-ranking Mexican Mafia affiliates, conducted threat assessments, completed validations, and testified as an expert, focusing on Northern California STG activity. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018 and Special Agent in 2021 within OCS CIAU. A 10-year member of CITF, he now oversees daily operations of the OCS Digital Forensic Team, supporting CDCR investigations.
