Biography: Gabrielle Franke wanted a hobby as retirement approached, so she took woodworking classes at Chemeketa Community College for about 3 years. That long buried interest lead to the creation of personal projects like dovetail drawers, cabinets, patio furniture, log furniture, tables, beds, and band saw boxes. Her passion expanded to projects for family, friends and customers. Some of the more complicated were made from professional plans (china hutch, dining table with leaves), to match existing pieces (coffee table, night stands), and a few simply based on a picture (credenza and curio stand). Volunteering in the Sisters High School wood shop since 2013 has been an opportunity to learn new techniques, emphasize safety, and be rewarded by an appreciative teacher and enthusiastic students. Gabrielle is a member of Central Oregon Woodworkers. |
