Accessibility Considerations for Therapeutic Horticulture Programming

Evaluate tools, equipment, structures, spaces,and techniques used by participants in therapeutic horticulture activities. Explore universal design principles and how to incorporate them into programming, activities, garden design, and tools to meet the widest range of people's needs. Design and construct a kit of adaptive tools and assistive devices through problem-solving activities.

Instructor:	Joanne D'Auria Joanne D'Auria Joanne D'Auria Joanne D'Auria, owner of HortAbility LLC, was formerly Access & School Workshop Coordinator at Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG). Joanne developed and facilitated programs to support BBG's access initiatives. She earned a BA from Brooklyn College in Fine Arts and Education; Horticultural Therapy Certificate (2017) and a Landscape Design Certificate (1996) from New York Botanical Garden. Former member of the Museum Arts Culture Access Consortium (MAC) steering committee and is a current member of the Mid-Atlantic Horticultural Therapy Network and Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Best Practices Working Group.
