Heeyoung Kim
Heeyoung Kim, known as a wildflower painter, is the founder of Heeyoung Kim Botanical Art Academy and artist in residence at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods. She has been documenting common and rare native plants in Midwestern prairies and woodlands. Her works have been recognized with numerous awards including RHS Gold (2012), Best in Show (15th New York International, 2012) and Diane Bouchier Award in Excellence in Botanical Art by ASBA (2012) among others.

Heeyoung teaches botanical art in graphite, watercolor and ink at all levels. Currently, she has an ongoing in-person open workshop on Mondays, and her Zoom classes attract students globally, especially those who want to paint native plants and pollinators in their regions.
