Nina Petrochko is a New England-based botanical artist working in watercolor and graphite. Her illustrations focus on plants, lichen and fungi that have therapeutic uses. A self-directed artist residency to draw flora of the French alps became a launching point into her studies at the New York Botanical Garden in 2019. She earned her NYBG Certificate in Botanical Illustration in 2024, and her final project involved research of plants with medicinal uses and their unique compounds. Nina is currently one of 48 artists in a traveling show hosted by The American Society of Botanical Artists, named Curious Allies: Mutualism in Parasites, Fungi and Lichen. Her piece, Snow Lichen on Maine Granite and her story behind the art can be viewed here, and her other botanical illustrations, can be viewed at www.ninapetrochko.space. |
