Painting Wilted Botanicals

Contemporary botanical artist Victoria Braithwaite visits from Scotland to share the advanced watercolor techniques she uses to capture the delicate yet dramatic elegance of fading botanical specimens. Whether wilting in a vase or settling down into the earth for the season, plants create unique shapes as they twist and their colors simultaneously intensify and fade. In this class, you'll closely observe the beauty in decay as you learn to depict your floral subject's papery surfaces, punchy darks, and vibrant depths using watercolor.
