Dahlias are the stars of the fall garden, producing spectacular blooms from midsummer until the first frost. In this workshop, you'll explore the history of dahlias and their many flower forms while learning how to care for plants through the entire growing season. We'll cover cutting and arranging dahlias, digging and storing tubers for winter, and the basics of dividing clumps to produce healthy plants for the following spring. You'll also receive a curated list of sources for purchasing dahlia tubers and growing supplies.

Instructor:	Christina Koether Christina Koether Christina Koether Christina Koether is the founder of Nomadica, a garden design and floristry studio based in Weston, Connecticut. An Advanced Master Gardener through UConn, she designs landscapes throughout the Northeast that blend horticultural knowledge, ecological function, and a strong sense of place. Known for her passion for the whole garden, Christina combines the eye of a designer, the discipline of a grower, and years of hands-on experience creating and caring for gardens. Her work ranges from intimate residential landscapes to abundant cutting gardens, where she grows thousands of flowers each season for both the garden and the vase. Christina's gardens have been featured through Garden Conservancy Open Days. She regularly teaches and lectures in both classroom and garden settings, sharing the practical knowledge, successes, failures, and observations that come from years spent growing, studying, and designing with plants. While Christina grows and works with a wide range of plants, dahlias remain one of her favorites. Each year she cultivates hundreds of dahlias, studying their performance as garden plants and cut flowers. She is particularly interested in helping gardeners grow healthier, more productive dahlias and discover the extraordinary diversity that has made them one of the world's most beloved flowers.
