Botanical Embroidery Basics
April 27, 11 am - 2 pm, NYBG
Embroidery is tightly tied to human culture. The earliest known examples-intricately decorated clothes, boots, and hats found in Russia-date back to 30,000 BCE. Practice eight different stitches to create a botanically-inspired, small work of embroidery to hang in your home. Find inspiration in nature and modern art to bring a contemporary twist to this ancient craft.

Intermediate Botanical Embroidery
May 18, 11 am - 2pm, NYBG
Create a lush work of embroidery to brighten your home! NYC-based artist Jessica Maffia will explain four ways to transfer a design to fabric. You will learn seven stitches (lazy daisy, stem, back, French knot, straight, fern, and Rhodes) that you will use to embroider the design.
