Textile artist Sarah Pedlow of ThreadWritten will guide you through several versatile stitches for making floral monograms to personalize gifts for the holidays and beyond. From clothing to household linens or quilts, you'll have the opportunity to practice monogramming with a font provided, trace letters of your favorite font, or use your own handwriting. Explore different ways to create monograms and techniques to add flowers, leaves, and vines. This workshop is open to all skill levels.

Instructor:	Sarah Pedlow Sarah Pedlow Sarah Pedlow Sarah Pedlow, founder of ThreadWritten, is an artist working with embroidery and cultural preservation through workshops, textile travel retreats, and fine art. ThreadWritten supportswomen artisans, traditional textile practices and the preservation of heritage through research, education, and the cultivation of a global community of makers. While participating in an artist's residency in Budapest, Hungary in 2009, Sarah fell in love with Hungarian embroidery and clothing in the Ethnographic Museum. The experience led her to seek out women embroidering in the written style in Transylvania, Romania, and start ThreadWritten in 2012, first with artisan-made bags and pillows. Since 2014, she has been focusing on education, lecturing, and teaching cultural embroidery workshops at institutions including Fashion Institute of Technology, The Textile Arts Council at the de Young Museum, San Francisco School of Needlework and Design, Tatter (Brooklyn, NY), WildCraft Studio School (Portland, OR), The Embroiderers' Guild of America, and Crafts Council Nederland. Embroidery study in Portugal and Ukraine, and artist's residencies in Iceland; Oaxaca, Mexico; and The Netherlands inform her work. She holds an MFA in Visual Arts from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, and a BA in Studio Art and French Studies from Scripps College, Claremont, CA. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she moved to Amsterdam, NL, in 2019, where she now lives and works. Find her artwork at sarahpedlow.com
