Growing Hardy Roses

Many gardeners, both beginners and experts alike, believe roses are difficult to grow but this simply isn't true. In this class, you'll explore rose varieties that are low maintenance and easy to grow without a lot of extra maintenance—such as modern shrub roses and even some heirloom varieties. You'll review the hardiest roses growing on the east coast as well as the use of IPM for pest management to set you up for success in the growing season.

Instructor:	Shauna Moore Shauna Moore Shauna Moore Shauna Moore is an enthusiastic horticulturist who works as the Director of Horticulture for Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Minnesota in Horticulture Science and Landscape Architecture, as well as a Masters in Liberal Studies. As an experienced gardener and designer, she deeply understands and appreciates woody and herbaceous plant materials. She is especially fond of roses: particularly the rare, old, prickly, fragrant ones. Shauna is personally and professionally dedicated to the creation of and search for beauty and for an understanding of how humans can better coexist with nature.
