Japanese Chrysanthemums in Watercolor

Learn how to apply the basic watercolor techniques of botanical art as you paint Japanese chrysanthemums, or kiku, with stylistic flair borrowed from the ukiyo-e style—a prominent genre of Japanese art featuring woodblock prints and paintings that flourished from the 17th to 19th centuries. You'll practice laying smooth, uniform and gradient washes for shading a form, among other techniques. This online course will offer live demonstrations, opportunities to practice painting skills and feedback on finished work. Prerequisite: Botanical Watercolor I
