Course detail: Safe Schools, Strong Futures: A Roadmap to Threat Preparedness

Course Description

Safe Schools, Strong Futures is a regional school safety training initiative developed through a partnership between the Kansas State Department of Education Safe and Secure Schools Unit, the Kansas Association of School Boards, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Kansas Attorney General's Office, and federal agency partners.

This course is designed to strengthen coordination among educators, school resource officers, mental health professionals, and law enforcement. The training integrates local, state, and federal perspectives to support consistent threat preparedness practices across Kansas schools. Consultants from the Safe and Secure Schools Unit have delivered this training statewide to cultivate collaboration, clarify procedures, and reinforce proactive safety planning.

Although the Safe and Secure Schools Unit is not a law enforcement entity, its partnership with public safety agencies enhances access to resources, improves communication channels, and supports unified approaches to school safety.
