Instructor: Barbara Paterson

No image available Biography: Before Barbara Paterson was old enough to attend school, she would line her dolls up on the couch and play teacher. Years later, she's still holding class and loving every minute of it. The only time she wasn't teaching English was when she lived in Florence, Italy, for two years while she was a feature writer for FLORENSCAPE magazine. Holding an undergraduate degree from Cedar Crest College with majors in English, Fine Arts (majoring in music and minoring in creative writing and art) and minoring in Secondary Education, Barbara received her master's degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Richmond. A recipient of an R.E.B. Award for Teaching Excellence and the Virginia Association of Teachers of English Service Award, Barbara has been selected multiple times as a Hanover County Scholars' Honored Educator, an award that is especially dear to her, since former students make the selection. Barbara Paterson makes test-taking, writing, and literary analysis fun. When she's not teaching and editing others' writing, she's working on her memoir, writing poetry, and honing her skills as a Renaissance woman.
