Welcome to Partners in the Arts at the University of Richmond! Partners in the Arts (PIA) provides resources and support to educators and schools for integrating arts and creativity across K-12 curricula. PIA is a program of the University of Richmond School of Professional & Continuing Studies.

Among its programs, PIA offers the Joan Oates Institute (JOI) for Partners in the Arts, a week-long summer institute that provides training and resources to area educators in arts and creativity integration. Use this online system to register for PIA programs including JOI.

Upcoming Courses


This course will provide educators with the knowledge and skills to use the principles of arts integration to expand their instructional practice. Creative practices in observing and communicating through visual, sound, and literary arts will provide participants with opportunities for researching, exploring, and telling learning stories (assessing) their STEAM+Humanities curricula. Bird Box author Josh Malerman will guide the experiential writing framework throughout the course.
