Welcome to Partners in the Arts at the University of Richmond! Partners in the Arts (PIA) provides resources and support to educators and schools for integrating arts and creativity across K-12 curricula. PIA is a program of the University of Richmond School of Professional & Continuing Studies.

Among its programs, PIA offers the Joan Oates Institute (JOI) for Partners in the Arts, a week-long summer institute that provides training and resources to area educators in arts and creativity integration. Use this online system to register for PIA programs including JOI.

New Online Registration System

We are pleased to release our new online registration interface. Here are few tips for successfully registering.

  1. Returning and new customers alike must create a new online account in the new system. Existing accounts will not be migrated to the new system.
  2. UR employees, partners and dependents who wish to take advantage of tuition remission benefits must create their accounts using their 8-digit UR IDs.
  3. All customers must be logged in to check out and make payments online. Creating an account is free, quick and easy.

This course will provide educators with the knowledge and skills to use the principles of arts integration to expand their instructional practice. Creative practices in observing and communicating through visual, sound, and literary arts will provide participants with opportunities for researching, exploring, and telling learning stories (assessing) their STEAM+Humanities curricula.
The Joan Oates Institute provides the theories and practices behind experiential creative learning applied to the K-12 classroom.
