Course detail: Advanced Report Writing

Course Description: Effective police reports will help an officer articulate probable cause for charging cases. This course of instruction is designed to improve upon the first responder's report writing skills; focusing on the intricacies of police reports rather than academic papers.

This training will cover the importance of accurate and effective report writing, how a police report should be formatted and what is needed in a police report. The training will include several practical exercises throughout the day.

Course competencies:
Thoroughness: participants will be able to effectively document an incident in a manner that is not only descriptive but will allow for the total understanding of the scene from the perspective of someone who was not on scene at the time.
