Course Description:
The Office of the Kansas Attorney General will reimburse each participant's agency $500 of the registration fee upon successful completion of the course. Officers that are not from Kansas are welcome to participate, however their agency will not be reimbursed the $500. This course will meet daily from 0800-1700. The registration fee includes all meals and lodging; there will NOT be a pro-rated registration fee for those who do not lodge at KLETC.
The D.A.R.E. Officer Training (DOT) is an intensive two week course. It is designed using current educational philosophies and principles that enhance the transfer of decision-making and critical thinking skills. The DOT attendee will receive a working knowledge of the elementary, middle school and high school D.A.R.E. curricula. They will also receive an overview of the enhancement lessons including, Opioid, OTC/RX drugs, MS and HS Vaping and HS More Than Sad - Mental Health lesson. The DOT training team will provide leadership and guidance that will establish effective instructional strategies to be used by officers in the classroom. An educator on the training staff will engage candidates in learning the concepts and developing the skills necessary to be effective in working with students and schools.
