Biography: Ruth Modlin Ellett, CFRE is the founder and principal of Modlin Ellett Associates, a regional consulting firm which specializes in planning and implementing capital campaigns, annual fund programs, major gifts programs, and board development programs. As a fund and board development professional for the last 33 years, Ruth has had sole or team responsibility for raising more than $160 million. Since 2001, Ruth has made a significant difference as a consultant to a wide variety of nonprofit, government, political, and church organizations and as a development staff leader at public and private arts and educational foundations, large and small. Ruth also speaks and conducts workshops and board retreats in her area of expertise.
Ruth is a past president of VAFRE and AFP. She has also served as Senior Warden of the vestry of St. James's Episcopal Church in Richmond, VA, where she served on the Steering Committee for both the church's $8 million capital and $1 million endowment campaigns. In 2015, she received VAFRE's highest honor, the Nina Abady Award, for career achievement.

Biography: Nick Sollog has been a development professional for over 15 years. In 2009 he formed The Sollog Group, a consulting firm dedicated to helping nonprofit organizations raise more money in less time. The group's practice focuses on capital campaigns, annual giving, database administration, and prospect development. Prior to consulting, Nick worked in the University of Richmond and the University of Lynchburg development offices. Born and raised in Richmond, VA, Nick graduated from the University of Lynchburg with a BA in International Relations. His advanced education includes certificates from the University of Richmond's Institute of Philanthropy in Grant Writing & Management, Fundraising & Development, and Nonprofit Marketing. Nick is involved in the local community both personally and professionally. He currently sits on the alumni board of the University of Lynchburg and is an active communicant and former Vestryman at Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Nick's professional memberships include the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives, Association for Advancement Services Professionals, Apra International, Apra-Virginia, and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Richmond.

Biography: Laurie Rogers has been a grant writer since 1995 in the Richmond region. She has worked for a variety of clients, focusing primarily on social services. In addition to writing grants, she works with agencies to achieve their overall fundraising goals. Prior to being a grant writer, Laurie was the Director for a $30 million Capital Campaign, Director of Development and Annual Fund Director at The Valentine in Richmond. She has also served as a fundraising volunteer for her college and graduate school for many years. She has taught fundraising courses at VCU and UVA for the past 20 years, along with numerous workshops and seminars, which keeps her focused on current trends and changes in the non-profit sector. She also takes webinars, workshops and any other opportunities for learning to keep her skills current.Laurie has served on the boards of many organizations, and is currently on the Board of the Children's Hospital of Richmond Foundation.Laurie has a BA in Political Science from Sewanee and a Master's of Public Policy from Duke University.

Melissa takes great pride in helping both for-profit and not-for-profit organizationslearn, grow, and succeed.Melissa also finds time to give back to her community. In the 15 years that she has lived in Richmond Virginia, she has served on many boards and board committees. Currently Melissa serves on the board of ASK (Association Supporting Children with Cancer), the PTA and as an ambassador for Comfort Zone Camp. Melissa's love for her community combined with her innovative leadership approach helps the non-profits she works with think creatively and design new offerings for their membership base and the communities they serve.Melissa is a graduate from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Finance. As a consummate learner and designer of her future, Melissa is a Strengthsfinder consultant IAC member and is currently completing her Senior Birkman Certification. Melissa is supported in her fulfilling her life's work by a wonderful husband, Randy, and her two boys, Jackson (12) and Chase (7).
