Course detail: The Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights is often cited to defend one political position or another. But how many of us really know and understand what the Bill of Rights actually protects? The Founders of our country knew first-hand the oppression at the hands of a form of government that abused its power. As a result, they wrote this document to keep the power and authority given the three branches under control through the system of checks and balances. But why the need to immediately add 10 Amendments which we call the Bill of Rights?
