Course detail: The Times They Are A-Changin': America in the 1960s and Its Profound Social and Political Impact on Our Country Today

In this highly interactive, interdisciplinary class, we'll listen to some of the most inspiring and provocative songs from the decade, listen to Alan Ginsberg recite his revolutionary poem "Howl," critically review select episodes from the documentary "Making Sense of the 1960s," and analyze a few of the essential documents and literature that define the 1960s. In our candid discussions, we'll study how a decade which began with almost evangelical youthful idealism, just 10 years later culminated in a crushing disillusionment and deep-seated cynicism in a sharply divided America at war with itself.
