Course detail: Live Fire Instructor and Instructor-in-Charge - Seminar Part 2 Face-to-Face

This two-day face-to-face seminar is Part 2 of a blended learning program addressing NFPA 1020, Chapters 7 and 8, Standard for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, Fire Officer, and Emergency Medical Services Officer Professional Qualifications, for Live Fire Instructor and Instructor-in-Charge. The seminar focuses on applied knowledge and skills for planning, supervising, and conducting live fire training evolutions in compliance with NFPA 1403. Participants will engage in scenario-based activities, practical exercises, and skills demonstration. Textbooks will be provided for use during the seminar and must be returned at the conclusion of class. Note: All students must first complete the online portion (Part 1) before attending.

Prior to or upon arrival on Day 1, each student must present a completed KFRTI Live Fire Training Participant Verification Form, signed by their fire chief or chief training officer, certifying that the candidate meets all knowledge, fitness, and PPE compliance requirements per NFPA 1400 and NFPA 1020. Each student must also sign a KFRTI Waiver of Liability prior to participating in any live fire evolution. Students who cannot produce a completed verification form or who do not meet PPE and fitness requirements on arrival will not be permitted to participate. Course prerequisites (REQUIRED): Completion of Live Fire Instructor Online Part 1; Firefighter I and II certification; ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800; and Fire Instructor I certification or demonstration of equivalent knowledge. Instructor-in-Charge candidates must additionally hold Fire Instructor II certification. National certification is available for this level - IFSAC and Pro Board.
