This foundational course covers the core driver/operator competencies required of all apparatus operators regardless of discipline. Students learn apparatus inspection and maintenance, safe driving principles, backing and maneuvering operations, and Kansas traffic law as it applies to emergency vehicle operation. This course is the prerequisite foundation for all discipline-specific Driver Operator courses. Course delivery is a combination of in-person classroom and driving range evolutions.
