Course detail: CERTHMA - Hazardous Materials Awareness
PREREQUISITE FOR THIS TEST: There are no prerequisite certifications for this certification.
WRITTEN TEST: There is a 50-question written test.
SKILLS TEST: There is no skills test associated with this level.
STANDARD: The certification test is based upon the NFPA 472, Standard for Competencies of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents, 2013 edition, Chapter 4, Awareness Level.
READING REFERENCE TEXT: The written tests are referenced to IFSTA, Hazardous Materials for First Responders, 4th edition. The specific referenced pages are listed in the Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification Guide, available on the KFRTI website.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: None.
FEES: If taken alone, the fee for this certification test is $35.00 for Kansas fire fighters and $70.00 for non-Kansas fire fighters.
If taken in conjunction with Fire Fighter I certification testing, there is no fee for this certification test.
There is an additional $17.50 fee, made payable to the ProBoard, for the ProBoard certificate.
Effective immediately the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute will not invoice individuals. Payment should be made at the time of registration via credit card.
Fees may be invoiced to organizations ONLY if a Purchase Order from that organization is provided to the Institute, via email or fax, prior to the event. After receipt of the purchase order, the Institute will manually register the students and invoice the organization. Please call KFRTI at 785-864-9244 to utilize this option.
