Course: Economics, Getting Into College, and Getting (Something) Out of College (OSH-ECONCLLGE)

According to a survey by the Chronicle of Higher Education, 79% of respondents reported that their college degree was worth the cost, 78% would recommend college to a friend or relative, but only 56% of Democrats, 36% of Republicans, and 33% of independents think that colleges do an excellent or very good job of educating their students. In this mini-course we will examine the higher education industry through the lens of economics. We will examine both entrance into college (application, acceptance, financial aid) as well as the output from college (the value of a college degree to both the graduate as well as to society more broadly).
