Course: Electricity - Society's Lifeblood (OSH-ELECBLD)

Our first session will include making and delivering it, how it's generated, getting it to us via the 'grid' and balancing supply and demand, and getting it from the grid to our homes and businesses. The second session will be the discussion of the most notorious US blackouts: the Great Northeast Blackout of 1965, the New York City Blackout of August 2003, and the Texas Winter Storm. The last session will focus on what the future holds, data centers, the Internet, and Virginia's outsized role, electric vehicles, additional power needs due to climate change, demand metering and billing, and future sources.
