Course Detail: OSH-ABURR - The King of Crimes: The Aaron Burr Treason Trial in John Marshall's Court

In 1807 Chief Justice John Marshall presided over one of the greatest court cases in American history. The Aaron Burr treason trial captivated a young America. After one term as Jefferson's Vice President, and after his lethal duel with Hamilton, Burr chose to head West and attempt to take armed men into Mexico. Jefferson demanded that Burr hang, but his cousin Chief Justice of the United States was intent on following the rule of law. This class will be a mix of lecture, viewing a cinematic stage play of the trial, and discussion.
