Course Detail: NC-PERFIT - Gold Certified Personal Fitness Trainer

Whether for a career move or for personal knowledge, this course program you all the information you need to become a personal fitness trainer. Our personal trainer course is a great way to prepare to be a successful nationally Certified Personal Trainer.

This course will be offered online as a self-paced program with short, impactful online videos with learning activities to be a successful personal trainer in the fitness industry.

The online, teacher-mentored course consists of 15 hours of lecture with key topics that include biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage and health assessment. The online learning, video-enhanced practical skills experience is 15 hours of practical training labs with shared role-playing drills on exercises, presentation skills, and other activities to help you master the position.

Two certification options are available.
  1. Level 1 Nationally Certified Personal Trainer: Successfully complete the written and practical exams. CPR/AED certification is required.
  2. Level 2 Nationally Certified Personal Trainer: Successfully complete your Level 1 exams followed by a 30-hour internship that will help connect with local employers.
Students should purchase the following textbook prior to beginning the course: Edward T. Howley and Dixie L. Thompson, Fitness Professional's Handbook (7th ed.), Human Kinetics, Champaign, IL, 2017. Available on Amazon in e-book or hard copy. Rentals may be available on Amazon. Also available in the WITS online store.

Please bring gym appropriate clothing for the practical lab classes. Internships will be set up for you after completing the 30 hours of lecture/practical training.
