Intended Audience: New professionals and experienced professionals who have little or no background in methods-based practice.

Description: There are myriad considerations when selecting, designing, implementing, and facilitating composition method-variations with clients in music therapy sessions. This involves a critical thought process that includes considerations of the composition method-variations, as well as multiple aspects of your client and their personal, interpersonal, and therapeutic contexts. This presentation highlights a nuanced and highly individualized approach to the clinical decision-making process based on the affordances of the method-variations, and the opportunities that the music therapists can build within them to adjust the needed level of challenge for the client.
