Over the past few decades, many different kinds of astrophysical observations have provided strong confirmation of the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe and have allowed us to construct detailed models of the history of the universe from its earliest moments to the present. The universe appears to be filled with mysterious dark matter and still more mysterious dark energy. The instructor will give an overview of why we believe in this strange model of the universe.
