Biography: Keith Tignor works with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Office of Plant Industry Services. His background includes honey bee research, extension and outreach, classroom instruction, workshops, and serving as a resource for beekeepers with questions about colony management and health. Keith previously worked at Virginia Tech in roles that included research, outreach, and extension activity. His experience spans beginner beekeeper education, colony biology, seasonal management, disease and pest concerns, hive products, and the practical challenges faced by beekeepers across Virginia. Keith also serves as a consultant to the Virginia State Beekeepers Association Master Beekeeper Program, supporting areas that include assessment development and program expectations. His combination of scientific expertise, statewide perspective, and practical experience allows him to help new beekeepers understand not only what to do, but why particular management practices matter.
