The School of Professional & Continuing Studies offers classes and programs related to preparing high school students for college and career choices, including SAT and ACT test preparation.

Our classes and programs also address preparing yourself for a new career, whether you are graduating from high school, college or graduate school, or you are preparing for an updated career in a new field.

S.T.E.P.S. to Success with The College Edge

Our S.T.E.P.S. (Strategies & Techniques for Enhancing Performance & Skills) to Success program introduces important skills, techniques and strategies to maximize success on test day, and provides advice for entry-level college and career planning. Also includes The College Edge, a college-application preparation program for rising high school seniors.

This course is designed to educate individuals in the science of nutrition and its role in health and weight management and to provide the necessary tools to build a solid foundation for sound nutrition practice.


Every day, starting on 02/29/20 and ending on 03/01/20
Start an exciting fitness career and become a Certified Personal Trainer. Our personal trainer course combines in-class learning with practical labs to prepare you for a career in fitness. Also includes the option to complete an employer internship that can walk you into jobs!


Every week on Sunday, starting on 02/16/20 and ending on 03/29/20 (excluding 03/22/20)
NEW! This ACT Prep Sunday series provides practice with the types of questions appearing on the English and Reading portions of the test. Sessions present strategies and techniques to help maximize your scores on test day. Tuition includes book, materials, and a recommended practice plan for upcoming tests.


Every week on Sunday, starting on 03/22/20 and ending on 03/29/20
Weekend Workshops resume this winter/spring, meeting on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Tuition includes books, materials, and healthy snacks/fruit/refreshments daily. Class sessions concentrate on the three major testing areas: Mathematics, Critical Reading, and Writing, with an introduction to the Essay.


This course meets February 29 and March 1: Saturday 9am-1:30pm, Sunday 1-5:30pm
This course meets April 4 and 5: Saturday 9am-1:30pm, Sunday 1-5:30pm
This course meets May 16 and 17: Saturday 9am-1:30pm, Sunday 1-5:30pm
In this exciting new program in partnership with CodeVA, students will use the VEX robot competition platform to learn about robot design, teamwork, community involvement, and computer programming. Working together, students will tackle the official VEX Tower Takeover Challenge. We will be working within a community of established teams throughout the course where engineering best practices, text-based coding basics, and teamwork skills come together in this unique ten-week experience.


Every week on Sunday, starting on 02/16/20 and ending on 04/26/20 (excluding 04/12/20)
What do you want to do when you finish high school? Identifying a career path is the first step in deciding what occupations and college majors might be right for you. Learn how your interests fit into career families, and then identify what possible occupations are related. This interactive workshop includes an online assessment to be completed prior to the workshop date, and the results will be handed out and interpreted during the workshop.

Our uniquely designed PSAT Prep course presents important techniques and tips for taking the test. We will cover what to expect in the Math and English sections, while practicing questions and reviewing the answer explanations. This is a great way to decrease text anxiety and gain valuable skills in a 'no pressure' class! Course is designed for students taking the test in October, who have not taken the PSAT before.
