Adjunct Teaching Certificate

The Adjunct Teaching Certificate course helps teachers enter the higher education classroom well prepared to inspire learning while teaching in online, face-to-face and hybrid environments.

For those new to teaching online, or those already teaching online, get the best instruction from the foremost authorities in online learning. This certificate program consists of three courses: Advanced Teaching Online, Designing Online Instruction, and Fostering Online Discussion.

In the 21st century, half of all learning will be online. The opportunities are tremendous for teaching online.

Learn about the online instructional environment, envisioning your online course, developing a web course, the phases of design and development, course design guidelines and more. Discover the principles behind the adoption of technology innovation and the nature of the online learning environment. Then get tips for planning your online course, identifying resources, and designing the structure. We will discuss the phases of design, including development and models, motivating student-student interaction, and managing online interaction.


Online, starting on 07/06/20 and ending on 07/31/20
In the online classroom the relationships and interactions among people are the primary generators of learning. Come learn how to build online communities with the foremost authorities, authors of the popular book by the same title. Acquire a new understanding of redefining community in cyberspace. Find out the importance of a learning community. Learn about using dialogue as inquiry, negotiating discussion guidelines, and fostering inter-group and other forms of collaboration.


Online, starting on 08/03/20 and ending on 08/28/20
The Certified Online Instructor (COI) designation is provided to those who successfully complete the three courses from the Certificate in Online Teaching. Those students wishing to receive the COI designation must complete additional coursework, teach a course online, and receive student evaluation. The course fee includes registration in the three courses as well as all additional fees and requirements for the Certified Online Instructor.

Whether you want to teach others or currently teach others, in any setting, either formally or informally, this course is for you.


Online, starting on 09/08/20 and ending on 10/30/20
This seminar addresses the complexity of trauma, identifies the effects of trauma and describes the neurobiology of trauma. Provides a framework for trauma-informed care and helps participants implement tools and strategies within a trauma-informed care system. NOTE: This course will launch in Fall 2020. It is eligible for 1.8 CEUs (18 hours of Continuing Education Units.) Course fee and exact dates will be announced this summer.
