Course Detail: PER226 - Organic Food Gardening

Inflationary costs putting the squeeze on your household budget? Protect yourself from the rising costs at the grocery store by growing your own food. Home-grown food costs less, is healthier, tastes better and is conveniently closer to home. This session will provide an overview of how you can organically cultivate many commonly grown foods. We will dive into seed starting, irrigation, garden placement and planning, and more. Diverse, eco-friendly, and low cost tips and tricks will provide you with useful tools for long term, affordable, and successful food growing.

Instructor, Marissa Renz, is the owner of Plant Happiness LLC, a market gardening and consulting company located in Fort Wayne. She has completed the Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, and Purdue Extension Urban Agriculture certifications, has a B.S.in Public Affairs, Environmental Policy which she received at IPFW. Currently she is enrolled in Ivy Tech's Urban Horticulture certification program.  Marissa's research of plants and garden design focuses on creating visually appealing outdoor spaces that also operate as balanced and functional ecosystems.
