Course Detail: CON450 - Multilingual NE Indiana - 2024 Gala
With over 70 languages spoken in the region and a proud history of serving as a resettlement destination for countless families, Northeast Indiana stands as an example of cultural and linguistic diversity within the Midwest. At the heart of this vibrant community are over 7,000 multilingual learners enrolled in area schools, guided by dedicated educators.
To pay tribute to the efforts of these educators and families, we cordially invite you to join us for an evening dedicated to celebrating their invaluable contributions. This special event aims to shine a spotlight on the impact educators make in the lives of their students and in fostering the growth of Northeast Indiana.
Please save the date for Saturday, September 21, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Purdue Fort Wayne. Together, let us honor and celebrate the remarkable ELL (English Language Learner) / MLL (Multilingual Learner) teachers and staff who support multilingual families, many of whom are immigrants and refugees.
We anticipate and welcome your presence at this inaugural event, as we come together to express our gratitude and admiration for these caring educators and the families they serve.
Audience: All teachers are welcome; ELL students and families; anyone who wants to celebrate the teaching profession regardless of background and job title; local non-profits who work with multilingual/multicultural populations.
Dress code: Business casual to formal, families can also choose to wear their ethnic/traditional attire.
Food: Attendees can sample several multicultural dishes to reflect the diversity of families we serve.
Warm regards,
Shannon Bischoff, Three Rivers Language Center Director
Mary Encabo Bischoff, TENL Program Director
