Course: Norfolk Burning 1776 Along With Winchester's Patriot Warrier, Daniel Morgan (OSH-NFLKBURN)

Something momentous happened in Norfolk, Virginia in January 1776: the city burnt down to the ground. Explore with us as we look at why that happened, how that happened, and what it meant to Virginia and the American Revolutionary War. Daniel Morgan from Winchester, Virginia rose to prominence as a man of the people, an extraordinary sharpshooter, and a leader of men at war. He was badly injured by the Pawnee in the French and Indian War and endured a lashing from the British Army. In the Revolutionary War he first led a regiment of Virginia sharpshooters and eventually became a Continental Army general. In January 1781, under his leadership the Army won the Battle of Cowpens, a turning point in the war in the South.
