Course: Cybersecurity Essentials: What People Over 50 Need to Know (OSH-CYBRESSNTLS)

In today's connected world, cybersecurity isn't just for IT professionals: it's essential knowledge for everyone, especially older adults who are disproportionately targeted by scammers. This comprehensive yet accessible course is specifically designed for people over 50 who want to protect themselves, their finances, and their personal information from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. You'll learn to recognize the most common scams targeting seniors, including phishing emails, phone fraud, romance scams, and tech support schemes. We'll cover practical strategies for creating strong passwords, using two-factor authentication, shopping and banking online safely, and protecting your privacy on social media. Through real-world examples and interactive demonstrations, you'll learn to spot red flags and avoid falling victim to fraud. The course emphasizes empowerment over fear, providing you with a practical toolkit of strategies you can implement immediately. We'll discuss what to do if you've been targeted or compromised, where to report fraud, and how to recover. You'll leave with a clear understanding of how to navigate the digital world with confidence and security. No technical expertise is required. All you need is an openness to learning and a desire to protect yourself in an increasingly digital world. Participants are encouraged to bring questions about specific situations or concerns they've encountered.
