This course offers a broad overview of four specific psychotherapeutic approaches used in clinical mental health: Person-Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. Many clinicians combine aspects of various approaches depending on the client's needs (e.g. trauma). We will also discuss why certain techniques (e.g. EMDR) are NOT recommended for various reasons.
