Our class will be in two parts. Part one will feature the screening of the 1971 documentary 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen.' The documentary captures live concert performances from Joe Cocker with Leon Russell as the musical director for the musicians and singers who are backing Mr. Cocker. The next day, we will present information about the life and work of Mr. Russell. We'll start in Oklahoma and follow his career through his last recording project. The class will be grounded in Bill Janovitz's biography, print and video interviews with Mr. Russell, assorted recordings, and live video performances.
